Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the entire day! I could eat a huge plate of pancakes, two eggs over-easy, and a side of extra crispy bacon for any meal! That’s why I was so excited when I heard we were going to eat breakfast at “Eggs Up” Restaurant. It was about time we got fed a decent breakfast! I had seen the “Eggs Up” sign right off of Ocean Blvd the very first day I drove into Myrtle Beach! I quickly found it very difficult to make a decision on what I wanted, as the Eggs Up menu has just about anything you could ever imagine on it, and I am one of those people that just want to take a few bites of everything. Usually, I make my boyfriend order all the pancakes and French toast just so I can have a bite and not eat the entire plate, which I could down in about five bites. I think Charlie ended up ordering the Shrimp and Grits, which is a local favorite! I decided to let Charlie handle that one and I would just order my usual! I did taste his however, and it was actually really good! I was even more ecstatic to find out they had 100% maple syrup, which is really hard to find at any breakfast restaurant because it is so much more expensive then the everyday syrup!!! I have had this obsession with 100% pure maple syrup for the last few years ever since I played in the Women’s Canadian Amateur that was in Quebec, Canada! I think I pretty much ate pancakes the entire week I was there, once I tasted how good the syrup was! Now that we were all completely stuffed and probably ready to roll out for a nap, we were headed off to Pawley’s Plantation.

Charlie, Mark, and I decided to take the Cadillac out for a little joy ride before heading over to Pawley’s Plantation! I always make sure I am in the front seat so I can control the radio! No one touches that radio except me! Ha ha! The scenery driving around Pawley’s is absolutely breathtaking! The salt marshes seem to go on forever and you can see hundreds of different birds that you have never seen before. We drove past this small little church that sat right on the water and salt marsh. Mark kept making comments from the backseat about how neat it would be to have a wedding there! The whole time, I just thought he was just saying that, but come to find out, he actually attended one of his friend’s weddings in that church! What a beautiful place to get married!

Playing Pawley’s Plantation was so beautiful, and after playing it I can see why it was named one of the “100 Must Play Courses in the Carolinas” in 2006! We really missed Josh playing with us (because I wanted another chance to kick his butt on the course!) We had a great time playing and the scenery is a whole experience in itself!

We were finally headed off to The Pit, which is one of those local dives you just have to know about. You have to know exactly where it is, otherwise you will miss the turn (like I did!) The walls were lined with hundreds and hundreds of One dollar bills that had each been signed by the people that visited there! I was so excited to put my dollar bill up on the wall, but after all the good food and music I totally forgot. Now I am going to have to go back, just so I can leave my mark in history!

Playing Willbrook Plantation was really exciting, especially for me! Willbrook is actually ranked in the Top 50 courses for women, by Golf for Women Magazine! Even though I got stuck playing the back tees with the boys, I could see that the course really did set up well for the average female. When most courses are built, the women's tees are sometimes just stuck into the plans as afterthoughts, leaving the women aiming into a fairway bunker or with almost no landing area in the fairway off the tee. It was clearly evident that the course architect kept the women in mind this time, as the course set up great from every tee box and the greens were really receptive to receiving high lofted fairway woods too. Even though the guys out drove me by 15 yards on almost every hole, they could use a lesson on how to hit a pin-seeking 7 wood straight at the flagstick every time. Ha ha. I caught them off guard when they least expected it!!! I have had my Callaway Steelhead 7 wood for over 8 years now. It looks a little scruffy from all the travel it’s been through, but it’s been my trustiest friend in the bag and it’s probably going to stay there for a long time.

The night before after playing golf all day, the four of us were hanging out in one of the condos just laughing about some of the crazy shots we hit that day and telling stories about friends and family. Charlie and I egged on Mark and Josh to break out their guitars. Its not very often you get private concerts from two of the world's greatest musicians. (ha ha, at least not without some tight connections and a lot of cash to spend!). They just started playing whatever songs came to mind and played us some of their newest songs that are coming out on CD. I have already bought every song off of their myspace pages! I truly felt privileged! I was so excited that I quite possibly heard a song before anyone else in the U.S. heard it; I've never even been close to scoring any backstage VIP tickets to any concert in my life! Heck, come to think of it, the only concert I have ever been to was a Dave Matthews concert stuck all the way back on the lawn and Dave looked like the size of golf ball!

Mark and Josh thought it would be really neat to write a theme song for the show and within a half hour, they had already come up with the tune and lyrics, plus, they recorded into an incredible little program on their laptop computer called Garage Band so they wouldn't chance forgetting it! Josh was so excited about coming back to the East Coast because he missed the sweet tea (I can't even count how many glasses of sweet tea he had drank in the last 2 days!), so of course, he wanted the song to mention “sweet tea” as soon as possible, which it does!

Mark and Josh had pretty much wrote the whole song, but one line just didn't seem to sound right! They needed something that rhymed with “holiday.” This is where my small claim to fame and little place in history comes in! This is the one point in time that is going to change my entire destiny! I just blurted out “Ray” followed by “The sun is shining, casting out its rays!.” I mean we are in Myrtle Beach where the sun always shines, right! Later on they told me that if you “write a word, you get a third” (some sort of musician/songwriter lingo) So, I guess what they are saying is that this song is going to make me a millionaire when it hits the top of the Billboard Charts! Don’t worry Charlie, I'll split it with you! Ha ha!

After playing at Willbrook Plantation, the guys had other things they had scheduled, which left poor little me all by myself! I needed a massage and a day at the spa! I needed my muscles to be ready to go for our match the next day! It was so relaxing to just have some time to yourself! After traveling a whole season on the Duramed Futures Tour, I needed this! A perfect ending to a perfect day in the “Golf Capital of the World!”

Shooting the Golf Channel Show Road Trip Myrtle Beach
1/27/2008
I’ve never been so nervous driving a car, as I drove down Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach in our red 1962 Cadillac convertible. As I could barely see over the steering wheel, my nerves didn’t come from the road in front of me, but the camera man sitting next to me in the passenger seat, and the camera man sitting in the back seat filming my every move!

Golf and music have always been my two biggest passions in life and I was given the incredible opportunity to express both of them at the same time while filming our new television series “Road Trip: Myrtle Beach!” With a total of 12 episodes, the first four episodes are scheduled to start airing prime time on the Golf Channel starting February 5 at 7:30pm.

“Road Trip” takes place in the “golf capital of the world”- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It involves four friends discovering everything “Grand Strand” has to offer: having fun on some incredible golf courses, showcasing some of the local restaurants and live-music dives in town that complete a perfect vacation, and lots more. And, when this foursome gets together anything is bound to happen! My three co-stars make it really easy on me, as each of them really has a unique and individual character that really add to the excitement of the show. Charlie Rymer is an established PGA Tour Player and ESPN personality. To me, Charlie is kinda the “fun dad” of the group! He has become a great mentor to me. He is always funny and light-hearted, and has given me some great advice about playing professional golf. Mark Bryan, lead guitarist from Hootie & the Blowfish, became my partner in crime when it came to ganging up against the other two. Mark is a curly haired goofball, always cracking jokes, and pretty much acted my age most of time. I give him a hard time, reminding him of his age, because one of their first hit songs was my 6th grade boyfriend’s and my song, haha. Josh Kelley, established solo artist, could possibly start a second career as a professional golfer or trick shot artist. At one point in the show, I refer to him as “Caveman” because he finds a huge stick in the woods to tee his ball up on and hit his drive at least 300 yards down the middle. Not to mention, his caveman-like beard, that unfortunately was recently shaven off for his wedding. Josh is crazy and all over the map with his movie impersonations and chain-wallet. I am never sure what stunt he is going to pull next! Then there is me. I am the lone girl stuck in the boys’ club! I just try to keep them all in line and, of course, every show needs a blonde!!

Our producer, Mickey Holden, and our director, Tim Johnson, were so much fun to work with. They were full of continuous encouragement, which only helped fuel the laughter and excitement. They were both really fun to work with and when they said “Cameras rolling!” we were really just able to be ourselves instead of acting. The best part of all, was getting to hear Josh and Mark’s music! They are so talented and I am now their biggest fan!

2008 Rules Seminar
1/21/2008
I attended a one day seminar to update myself on all of the new rules changes for 2008. Hope to save some shots this year by being up to date on all the new rules and refreshed on all the rest.

Suggest everyone who plays the game should attend a rules seminar

Lanny Basham

I spent two days with Lanny Basham, an Olympic Gold Medalist and now the President of Mental Management Systems. Wow, what a great two days and a great way to kick start 2008. Lanny works with Fred Funk and Justin Leonard and both were leading their respective tournaments going into the last round last week, with Fred birding the last wo holes to win and Justine ended up in second place at the Bob Hope Classic.

Pia Nielson and Lynn Marriott

Just had a wonderful Christmas present from my Dad. He paid for me to go to the Vision 54 (where every hole can be birdied)Workshop in Phoenix with Pia and Lynn. Had a great three days and have read both of their new books, "The game before the Game" and "Every shot must have Purpose"

Both of these books were terrific and I highly recommend the two books and their golf school.

It was really great meeting and getting to know Lynn and Pia.
